A fair number of websites claim to provide information on horse riding trails. Unfortunately many are dominated by mountain biking, hiking, or trail running info and have little for horse riders. Others require you to sign up or pay a monthly subscription to access any useful info! Some now have totally fake information to try to get page views. These behaviors are a crock.
This site holds absolutely free horse trail guides and maps created to encourage horseback riding and horse driving on trails and in public parks and forests in central Pennsylvania, centered around Altoona and State College. Some are added for surrounding areas, including Maryland, Ohio, New York, West Virginia and Virginia. We’ve even mapped a few trails in Ontario! Our “Trail Guides” are based as much as possible on personal experience (sometimes just scouting trips), and try to include accurate, up to date, and comprehensive information on trails specifically for horse use, written by actual horse users.
If you don’t see the value, consider this… one highly-promoted trail riding site has TOTALLY FAKE trail information pages–generated using AI, of course!–that contain false and misleading information about trails in order to try to boost their search results. Ludicrous! Welcome to the future. Sigh. We’d rather have fewer views and REAL information… but then we aren’t trying to make money.
By the way, there is nothing intentionally used on this site to take your money, track you, or invade your privacy: no paywalls, no third party javascript crap, no social media links or “free apps” that spy on your activities.
Ride Your Horse. Happy trails!
